Thanks to it's unique set of skills and many years of experience developing
products and services for the electronic and aviation market, Exalit Ltd. has
identified future paperless cockpit needs to produce this state-of-the-art
Electronic Flight Bag. The product provides users with an independent platform
to display charts, run performance tools or view aeroplane manuals.
The specific requirement to provide maximum resolution on a limited screen area
under extreme lighting conditions combined with the harsh environment avionic
equipment is required to operate under exclude the use of off-the-shelf office
products. The Exalit EFB consists of a high-luminescent display controlled by a
robust base unit. All components are tested and certified to the stringent RCTA
(Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics) DO-160D standards.
FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 120.76A defines 3 categories for the use of EFBs in
the cockpit - Class 1, 2 and 3. Exalit's EFB complies with all classes.
Operating the equipment under Class 2 is a very cost-efficient solution
providing the crew with navigation position information during all phases of
flight.
